CHARITY SPECIAL CLASS C

ALL-WINNERS FINAL 2009
Where does the time go?, it's September and the Charity
Special Class All-Winner Final is here again.
The sun was shining and we have a large working ring in a prime location
all thanks to Kathy Hood and Birmingham & District GSD Association. The
Judge arrived (Michelle Newman) with a car full of "props" ~
and so the scene was set.
25 competitors qualified throughout the previous 12 months and after the
"draw"had taken place running order number one declined to work,
but, the remaining 24 competitors entertained the large crowd which stayed
around the ring all day.
Friendly banter and applause rewarded the good sportsmanship of the competitors
and we were very pleased this year to see handlers competing from Ireland
and Scotland but we have to single out one competitor for "sports
personality of the day" and that is Mr Rob Pugh WELL DONE MATE, definitely
one for "you tube".
All the money donated by clubs/societies, E-on UK etc. and individuals
goes to the nominated canine registered charity, this year it was THE
GREYHOUD TRUST who brought along 4 of the rescued greyhounds plus the
merchandise which kept the shoppa-holics happy.
The prizes for the first 4 places are donated by business's and individuals,
the 1st and 2nd place received engraved crystal glassware donated by Mrs
Christine A Hickman of Sutton Coldfield, 3rd & 4th place received
china plaques courtesy of Centurion Manor Giftware. Along with this DogTraining
Weekly donated free subscription to their magazine to the first three
places.
Rosettes were sponsored by Mr & Mrs Allcock and all the prize money
(£160.00p) was sponsored by Keith and Hazel Mills a.k.a. PETNEEDS
Free goody-bags and dog food for the competitors was sponsored again this
year by James Wellbeloved. Is there any other Obedeience class to match
that?.
Now to the whole purpose of this final ~ support to the nominated canine
charity.
This year despite the economic gloom & doom the central fund exceeded
all our expectations.
I had great pleasure in handing THE GREYHOUD TRUST the
huge sum of £2066.51p
So to ALL the Obedience fraternity our sincere thanks
to you for your support, without you this event would not take place.
Our congratulations to this years winner MRS S TOOLEY with WOUGHSTOCK
WYNSOME HARTZE OW who also received the "OB CH IT'S SNOW FLUKE"
perpetual trophy donated to this event by Mr Steve Barnes.
Any new club/society wishing to hold a qualifying heat for 2010 please
contact me, more heats, more money for the charity.
I was asked why this event couldn't be held on the Sunday of this weekend
show. The reason is very simple, for our sponsors and the chosen charity
we need to try and keep the event as high profile as possible and there
is no doubt at all that Sunday's Open show lacks the "buzz /atmosphere
and crowds" of the Saturday Championship show.
Whilst we agree that at times running orders can clash, all competitors
and the appointed Judge accept this appointment and are aware of the situation
and act accordingly to accommodate all situations.
Lyn & Mick Tozer.
COMPETITION RULES
The aim of the competition is to achieve a self-financing obedience competition
culminating in an "All-Winners" Final Competition where, a prior
nominated charity benefits from the residual proceeds from the previous
12 months. The aim is also to provide an interesting and exciting competition
for dogs and their handlers, and to draw public attention to the high
standards of "Competitive Obedience" dogs in the U.K today.
1/ The "Charity Special Class "C" is open to all competing
obedience handlers.
2/ All societies / clubs hosting one of the Charity Special Class "C"
qualifying stakes must have donated the appropriate administrative cost
to the organizer prior to scheduling the class.
3/ Qualifying stake classes of the competition are held in conjunction
with dog shows held under KENNEL CLUB rules and regulations in force at
the time of the show, and dogs held in breach of KENNEL CLUB rules will
be disqualified
4/ Once a dog has qualified by winning one of the stakes classes, the
dog is able to challenge for the title of "Overall Winner" in
the "All-Winners Final" competition.
When a dog has qualified by winning one of the stakes classes, that dog
is not eligible to compete in further qualifying heats held in the same
calendar year. However you are allowed to enter the class Not for
Competition should you wish to.
5/ . The title Overall Winner is a once in a lifetime title,
and a dog that has won this award is never eligible to compete in the
competition again.
6/ The KENNEL CLUB requires the following to be printed in the schedule
by the participating societies / clubs:
i. The title of the scheduled class will be CHARITY SPECIAL CLASS
C
ii. CHARITY SPECIAL CLASS C is based on a normal class C
round, however, the appointed judge may vary the content of the exercises
should they wish to, provided it is not deemed injurious to dog / handler.
7/ Any variation to the test must be displayed on a Briefing Sheet
at the ringside prior to commencement of judging.
