Pet Dog Training Instructors Course
Saturday 7th - Saturday 14th August
2010
Harper Adams University College (HAUC), Newport, Shropshire
Following the fourth
successful Instructors course in August 2009, the next one will build
on its achievements. 2010 will see improvement to the tutorials, adding
more structure to the theory elements to encourage students to increase
/ reward levels of canine knowledge. Pre and post-course work will also
be offered (but only as an option) this year, which if successful and
subject to validation, the higher level elements may earn credits leading
to a HAUC Diploma in 'Dog Training and Behaviour Management'
The Instructors Course does
not only provide practical training in instructing skills, it highlights
the need to understand people and their relationship with their companion
dogs. Adding more formality to the theory elements in an achievable way
is an exciting venture for us all. The PDTI, as always, is committed to
facilitate learning, evolve and update to meet the demands of changing
times. The Instructors Course supports the Kennel Club Accreditation
Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour, and in
doing so, it also includes the Kennel Club Good Citizens Dog Scheme within
its base exercises, with an opportunity to explore other competitive /
working activities.
The Instructors Course
offers four practical certificates (Introductory, Intermediate,
" Instructors and Advanced) at pass, merit and excellence, to suit
all levels of experience.
Separate PDTI / HAUC theory certificates (optional) will be available
at each level and these, in due course, may be offered to students from
previous courses. The practical certificate is a requisite to the theory
certificate.
The course runs as a week-long
residential course, and costs are inclusive of bed, breakfast and evening
meals. Reduced overnight fees apply to those taking advantage of camping
/ caravans / off-site options. With a packed timetable of practical sessions,
tutorials, lectures and discussion times, it is a worthwhile course
not to be missed!
"I found this course
to be great value for money. It was a great experience and will help towards
my canine behaviour studies. I would recommend to others" Caroline
(NE UK).
With numbers strictly
